The schedule for the week:

Monday - percussion honor band sectional - 3:15 to 4:45pm
Tuesday - jazz band rehearsal - 3:15 to 4:45pm
Wednesday - honor band rehearsal - 3:15 to 4:45pm
Thursday - no after school rehearsal
Friday - no school - Veteran's Day

Hello everyone,

Only two days until the best dance of the year at Appling Middle School.  We will be selling tickets in the 4way at school on Friday morning from 7:45 to 8:15am.  Because we are only selling on Friday morning we can use all the help we can get from parents.  Please let me know if you can help.

We will be decorating and setting up starting at 5:30pm.  Anyone who would like to help, please come to the gym door between 5:30 and 6:15pm.  We would like to have everyone set in position by 6:15 so that we are ready when the doors open.  If you can't make it by then come help anyway.  We always need lots of help and will gladly put you to work whenever you get there.

We could still use donations for the concessions.  We need canned sodas, bottled waters, full size candy bars, sour candys (such as Sour Patch Kids, Airhead Xtremes or others), suckers or other candies.  If you are bringing something on Friday, please just drop me a line of what it is so I will know what I need to buy.

Thank you for being willing to help.  We could not do any of this without you.  See you Friday.

Thank you for signing up to help with the dance on Friday night.  We could not do it without you.  Please come as early as possible to help with set up.  We will start decorating at 5:30pm.  I am planning to have someone stationed at the gym door to let you in.  If no one is at the gym door to let you in check the bandroom door. 

If you are helping with ticket sales on Thurs and Fri morning, please be at the school at 7:45am to sell tickets.  We will be done at about 8:15am.  We will need more on Friday than Thursday.

Hello everyone,

There will be a slight schedule change for Tuesday's auditions.  They have been moved to Thursday from 3:15 to 4:45pm.  This was a last minute change because the faculty meeting was moved from Thursday to Tuesday.  Mrs. Sanders has announced it over the intercom today and is also announcing it in class today and tomorrow.  Thanks for being patient and understanding when things like this happen.

Good morning parents,

Fall break is over and it is back to school.  Here are a few reminders for this very busy week.

Monday - 8th grade required practice from 3:15 to 4:45pm
Tuesday - honor band tryouts for 6th grade and 7th/8th grade beginners.  Sign up with Mrs. Sanders for times from 3:15 to 4:45pm. 
Also, Tuesday night is open house.  The 7th and 8th grade bands will be performing at 5:30 in the gym.  Dress in jeans and your white band t-shirt for this night.  Meet in the gym with your instrument ready to go no later than 5:15pm. 
Wednesday - Jazz Band tryouts from 3:15 to 4:45pm.  Please sign up for times with Mrs. Sanders.
Thursday - no afterschool practice
Friday - Poinsetta Orders Due
            Halloween Band Dance 6:30 to 9pm
 
If you have signed up to help with the band dance, I will be sending out an email about that later today or tomorrow.  If you have not signed up and would like to help, please let me know.  I have attached a list of donations we could use for the band dance.

Sorry there was a typo on the previous email.  Poinsetta orders are due Friday, Oct 28th.  Not Nov.  Sorry about that.  I guess this Fall break vacation is making me relax too much.  Again Poinsetta orders are due Friday, OCT 28th.

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying their fall break.  I know I am.  Just a few reminders for the weeks ahead. 

Mrs. Sanders has posted Smart Music assignments that will be due Nov. 2nd.  This week is a great time to work on these and get a step ahead.  The 7th and 8th graders will have part of their All-West music as an assignment and they need to take advantage of working with Smart Music.  It took Mrs. Sanders a LONG time to post them because she had to make individual assignments for each instrument and part. 

Poinsetta fundraisers are due on Friday, Nov 28th.  We cannot do late orders as we have in the past.  They have to be in on Friday the 28th.  Also, Yankee Candle were available on last Friday.  If your child did not pick one up, encourage them to pick one up on Monday.  These are both great ISA fundraisers for your child.

The Halloween Band Dance is Friday, Oct. 28th.  We will need LOTS of volunteers for this dance.  We need chaperones, raffle ticket sales, door entry sales, cell phone table, concession sales, glow product sales, bathroom and dance floor monitors.  Help is needed everywhere at this one.  If you are willing to help, please send me an email to let me know to expect you.  Some of you signed up at the booster meeting and I have your names already.  I will also need some to help with pre-ticket sales on Thursday and Friday morning from about 7:40 til about 8:15am.  Again, some of you did sign up at the booster meeting and I already have your names.

Mrs. Sanders needs some posters made for the school walls advertising the dance.  These need to have on them ... Advertising $6 in advance, $7 at the door..... Concessions, glow products, raffle tickets $2 each for the Ipod Touch.... Costume contests for funniest, scariest, and best all around..... We also need donations for the concessions.  We need canned sodas, bottled waters, full size candy bars, suckers, sour items, such as Airhead Xtremes and Sour Patch Kids.  If you can help with this you can drop them off at the band room after school or after the practices.  I would like to have all donations turned in by Thursday, Oct 27th so that I will know what to pick up on Friday.  If you will not be bringing it until Friday night, then just let me know what it is you are bringing.

I will send out another email over the weekend to remind you of the schedule for next week.  I have attached the booster meeting agenda for those that could not make the meeting last Thursday. (( Download Agenda ))

Hello parents,

Remember the band booster meeting is tomorrow night at 7pm in the band room.  We will be talking about the Halloween dance as well as other important dates coming up. 

We will have poinsetta order forms and Yankee Candle forms for these two new ISA fundraisers.  We will also have Smencils for you to check out tomorrow night.

Please, Please, Best Books were due last Friday.  I need them tomorrow at school so that I can keep the appointment to turn them in to the fundraiser.
